Cauca Coffee Growers’ Cooperative

Completed project

The initial objectives of the Cauca Coffee Growers’ Cooperative were twofold: Firstly to promote the improvement of extraction and drying infrastructures to produce higher quality coffee on the plantations of the Cauca region; and, secondly to create a sense of gender identity within the social and economic contexts of Cauca’s rural communities.

As a result of the training given by the Cauca Coffee Growers’ Cooperative, aid was secured for several rural women - housewives and heads of households - so that they could organise themselves and initiate coffee farms, thereby improving their household incomes and supply their basic needs.

Today there are many women working in the coffee dryers, and many are benefiting from the great support received from various entities.
